Having always been mystically inclined, Onça as an adult became fascinated by psychology, religious history, and iconography. Fusing these subjects with her art was inevitable. As part of her occult training, Onça was required to master a form of divinity, and she chose tarot. In order to deepen her understanding of the cards, she began drawing her own versions. What came out of this was the World Spitit Tarot. In addition to this, she has also created many book and magazine illustrations on many occult themes.

Onça is also a dancer, performer, teacher, and director of Baraka Mundi, a Tribal Fusion dance company based out of Western North Carolina. In the Spring of 2005, Onça produced, directed, and performed in an all-original world fusion ballet entitled Secret of Ashes: The Phoenix Reborn.

Like many stories, the Secret of Ashes contains layer upon layer of meaning. At its surface it is the story of a naive young girl who, when the Phoenix entrusts her with its egg, must fight to make sure the egg is safe from the evil Baba Yaga. But looking deeper, it is also the story of an individual who learns that she must fight to protect what is good and precious in life.
