“When
they started bombing Baghdad; I couldn't paint. I had this
collage I'd been playing around with forever, made of Camel
cigarette packs. I was living in a shack in the woods. I'd
switched to Bugler. So there I sat with my feet on a camel
saddle in the debris of my life, my scissors and lighter
tied to my easel, cutting out little pieces of paper and
sticking them on a board, listening to the BBC. Praying
for PEACE. I STILL AM. Only now I listen to Coast to Coast
late night talk radio, I am back to PAINting now and practicing
being PEACE in each moment in spite of it all.”
