Crocheted from strips of silk chiffon these hats conform to fit most head sizes and have a cord hat-band in case you need a tighter fit. They work well in the rain and dry remarkedly quickly. The wire in the brim allows for diverse styling choices. The only drawback to the hat is getting stopped by strangers who want to tell you how beautiful it is. Available in red (earthy tones). purple or green - each color choice will contain some of the other colors in the mix
The hats are absolutely smashing when worn with a matching silk chiffon cape (available in earthy red. purple or green). This classical ruana cape is so incredibly versatile you won't believe all the possible configurations - everything from a wrap-around skirt to a dress with a cape in the back to an absolutely fabulous turbanesque hat.
Above
are some of the many ways to wear these fabulous capes. Dyed by Michael Smith of Three Wishes, this non-traditional shibori is truly fabulous. Amazingly the cape can be machine washed and dried with no lessening of the vibrant colors since Michael uses fiber reactive dyes (if you DO machine wash please use a net bag and the delicate cycle - line drying is best since a dryer will degrade any fabric over time). DOUBLE SPIRAL CAPE - thirteen double spirals are hand sewn together with over 700 beads for a truly dramatic cape. The white cape is made from Silk chiffon with mother-of-pearl beads. Custom orders are possible but due to the time needed to construct the cape it will take 4-6 weeks for delivery - so plan ahead! For custom orders, please contact us.
